Over the next year in partnership with Aspire, we will be hosting regular sessions for carers caring for an adult with a Learning disability or neurodiversity, starting this Autumn.
The sessions, informed by carers, will be on a variety of topics including care management, future planning and independent living. We are planning to focus on three topics a year, each repeated in Aspire hubs in Bramley, Potternewton and Woodlesford, enabling us to reach more carers across the city.
The first set of sessions will cover a topic we have previously been asked to do and will be on the subject of Wills/Power of Attorney/Court of Protection, with expert advice provided by Clarions solicitors.
The sessions will be open to all carers of adults with learning disabilities, regardless of whether those families access Aspire services, with lunch provided to all attending.
Attending the sessions will also give you chance to meet the Carers Leeds team, find out about the support we can offer as well as listen to speakers on a variety of topics to meet your needs. Our team of carer support workers can help you access 1-1 support, attend further groups and events as well as signposting to benefits, grants and wellbeing support.
The first sessions will be on the following dates:
- 10am – 1pm , September 13th 2022 – Bramley Day Service, Railsfield Rise, Bramley, LS13 3AA
- 10am – 1pm, September 27th 2022 – Rothwell Day Service, Holmsley Lane, Woodlesford, LS26 8RY
