We are excited to share with you that our
Carers’ Book Group is open to new members.
Unpaid carers, who love books or who want to start a new activity or
improve reading habits, are welcome.
This friendly informal group, run by a volunteer, brings carers together to chat and discuss the novel that the group have read. This is an inexpensive activity, as the group read free books borrowed from Leeds libraries that carers can read at home or anywhere they choose! Losing yourself in a book gives you a certain amount of escapism and a break from everyday life.
No need to worry about not having time to read every book! The group understands that carers may find reading difficult at times for one reason or another.
Carers who join the group also enjoy having time for themselves and the social aspect of the meetings.
Here are some benefits of joining a book group
Here’s what some of our carers have said about the book group
Enjoy the discussion about
the book and
having social contact.
It’s valuable time for me. Chance to
talk with others who have similar
interests. Found it very valuable.
I really enjoy seeing the others and hearing their opinions on
the book. We usually have a good discussion around
books then can veer on to other subjects.
I enjoy escaping into the
world of books
with likeminded people.
I enjoy reading books others
have chosen that I may
not have picked up myself.
I love the opportunity to read books
I probably wouldn’t choose myself.
It also a great group of people.
The group currently meets about every six weeks on a Wednesday in Leeds City centre
