Supporting carers of people with learning disabilities

Carers Leeds has a dedicated and experienced team of people who will support carers who are caring for an adult with learning disabilities.  We appreciate that caring for someone with learning disabilities can have its own difficulties.  There can be worries about planning for the future, completing benefits forms, accessing services, getting a break and dealing with stress and anxiety relating to the caring role.

The Learning Disability Carers Team can help by:

  • Supporting you to plan for the future
  • Giving information and support about power of attorney
  • Giving information and support the Court of protection
  • Giving information and support about mental capacity
  • Offering one to one sessions
  • Signposting to other organisations including services for person with learning disability

Carers Leeds supports unpaid carers:
