Here are some areas that the advice line service can support you with:

• Emotional support
The impact of caring can have a detrimental effect on a carers emotional and physical wellbeing.
We support carers to have a safe space to discuss their feelings and give callers the opportunity to talk about their situation whilst providing reassurance that we are there to listen.

• Access to services
Although we aim to be the point of contact for all carer support in Leeds we understand that carers may also require support from different agencies.

We give guidance on the support available from different agencies and put carers in contact with services that are best able to support them and the person they care for.

• Financial advice
We can advise carers of their entitlement to specific carer-related benefits such as Carers Allowance/Personal Independence Payments/Disability Living Allowance/Attendance Allowance.

We support carers to access more in-depth financial guidance such as benefit checks and debt advice, from specialist support agencies in Leeds.

The carers advice line will give guidance on wider issues such as being an appointee or power of attorney.

• Professionals
The Carers Advice Line Service will offer information and guidance to other agencies and workers where their primary concern is regarding carers wellbeing.
