Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, President of Carers Trust, joined carers at Leeds Civic Hall, 20 years after she opened Carers Leeds centre, which is now based on The Headrow.
During her visit The Princess met many of the carers who use the services, together with other supporters. Before leaving, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal cut the celebration cake and received a small memento of her visit.
Val Hewison, Chief Executive, Carers Leeds, said, ’I have personal experience of caring and I know how many unpaid carers often have to balance their caring role with hectic lifestyles. Although caring can be a rewarding experience, for some it can be extremely isolating with the potential for unpaid carers to feel tired, anxious and disempowered.
We are delighted that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has been able to join us for the 20th Anniversary celebrations and that the Princess has devoted so much time and energy to championing the cause of unpaid carers.’
