A Personal Assistant or PA is someone who is employed by a person with care needs to help provide care.  A PA  will  help the person with care needs  to live life in the way that they choose and with control over the support they receive. At the moment, there is a shortage of people wanting to take up employment as a PA, so Leeds City Council (LCC) is starting a new programme for recruiting and training PA’s.

If you are interested in becoming a PA, then training and support is offered, together with a 4-week experience placement.  At the end of the traineeship, the person trained can register as a PA with the Leeds CIL PA register which is used by employers across Leeds to recruit PAs.

For more information, contact Victoria Robbins on 0113 378 5087,  07891 276 727 or wecareacademy@leeds.gov.uk.

LCC is also looking for people with care needs who employ or are considering employing a PA.  LCC needs employers who are willing to offer a 4-week part-time or full-time placement to a trainee PA without having to pay employment costs.  See above for contact details if you, or the person you care for is interested.
