Leeds Directory is Leeds City Council’s online source of information to help people live well and as independently as possible.

Leeds Directory includes a range of services in the home and community, activities and support groups. Much is of general interest, but there are some listings that are particularly important for carers.

You do not have to be on line
You can also contact us over the phone on 0113 378 4610 weekdays 9am to 5pm – and we’ll talk you through the options available to you, depending on your enquiry. We also have an answerphone that is on outside these hours for you to leave a message.

Our listings
There are over 1,700 organisations and services that may assist and support you (or someone you know) in a variety of ways, towards living well and more independently. These include for example, home and garden maintenance; equipment to help with daily tasks such as cooking or getting washed and dressed; home care; and home security.

The Green Tick – vetted and rated services
Organisations that provide services around the home and garden or on a one to one basis in the community are checked and vetted by the Leeds Directory. These providers are marked with our ‘green tick’.

Although unnecessary contact is not encouraged at present, home emergencies can still happen and Leeds Directory is an important link to essential and necessary services, such as trades that can help with urgent repairs in the home to keep you safe and well.

Information is regularly updated to include notifications from organisations about how they are operating in line with current government and public health guidance. All of our traders have received information on social distancing and minimizing risk. While activities and events that take place outside the home are cancelled until further notice, many organisations are offering online activities, telephone-based services and other social connections to support you and keep you connected.

Financial help with care costs
This can be the key if you are caring for someone and need some support or need some care support yourself. We offer a financial ready reckoner so you can see in less than five minutes if you are likely to be eligible for financial support.

Need a break?
We list sitting services, from organisations that can step in and care for the person you care for for a day or a few hours. This can range from providing personal care if needed, in your absence, to simply keeping your loved one company for a short time and maybe making a cup of tea. We appreciate options are limited just now and if you or a member of your household are in a high risk category it is still not easy to get out, but if you can get out and go for a walk, this service could provide you with a much needed break.
