Supporting young adult carers
Our young adult carer project supports carers between 16 and 25 years old living in Leeds caring for a friend or family member with an illness, disability or addiction. We provide one on one support sessions in the carer’s house, in the community or at the Carers Leeds centre giving information and advice and emotional support.
We also run group sessions, activities and trips to enable young adult carers to have a break and meet other young people who are caring. In previous years we’ve visited ITV studios, been to the North Yorkshire moors for outdoor pursuits and activities, had universities and colleges come and speak at our groups and we took a group to the rock ‘n’ roll pantomime in Leeds city centre.

Calling on all young adult carers to take a survey on how you’ve been affected by Coronavirus
Carers Trust has launched a survey to find out how young carers aged up to 25 have been affected by Coronavirus, and what support they need.
The findings of the survey will help influence the government to give young carers and young adult carers the support they need.
Can you help young carers and young adult carers by adding your voice and filling out the survey? And please spread the word with your friends who are also young carers to make sure as many people as possible take the survey.
The survey is live and will run up to 23 June.
