Supporting young adult carers
Our young adult carer project supports carers between 16 and 25 years old living in Leeds caring for a friend or family member with an illness, disability or addiction. We provide one on one support sessions in the carer’s house, in the community or at the Carers Leeds centre giving information and advice and emotional support.
We also run group sessions, activities and trips to enable young adult carers to have a break and meet other young people who are caring. In previous years we’ve visited ITV studios, been to the North Yorkshire moors for outdoor pursuits and activities, had universities and colleges come and speak at our groups and we took a group to the rock ‘n’ roll pantomime in Leeds city centre.

With funding from the i-will big lottery fund, the talented film making crew from FlyGirl Films collaborated with young adult carers from Carers Leeds to produce 5 short films. Please help to spread the word and share these films as widely as possible, educating others about the stories of these hidden heroes.
