Carers Leeds offers bereavement support for carers when the person they have been caring for has died.
We recognise that when the person you care for dies, it can be a difficult time, filled with complex and conflicting emotions. The loss includes the end of your caring role, which may effect your sense of purpose.
Carers Leeds offers one-to-one bereavement support, in person, on the telephone and on Zoom, if you have lost someone you were caring for, typically where this loss has occurred within the last two years. We also run a monthly bereavement support group – a safe space for discussing and processing grief. Please contact our Advice Line 0113 380 4300 to find out more.
What is Grief?
Grief is a normal reaction to the death of a person we have a relationship with. Some feelings people may experience are; shock, sadness, loneliness, helplessness, anxiety, stress, relief, confusion, numbness, denial, anger, guilt, fear. The person who is grieving may experience all or none of these feelings and it is important to say these may occur in no particular order. There is no wrong way to grieve and whatever you are feeling is valid.
Everyone’s relationship with the person who has died is unique and therefore everyone’s grief is unique.
Grieving is how grief can change and be felt over time.
I feel I have been very much supported and listened to, it has been a positive experience, and I have been able to work through some difficult times.
