Parent Carers

Carers Leeds provides support for parent carers across the city. A parent carer is someone who cares for a child with a disability, long term illness or additional needs.  

Our role is to directly support you, the parent carer. We do not have direct involvement with your child. 

We can help you through our: 

We can support you to manage your own health, wellbeing and relationships, as well as your caring role. We can also offer guidance on managing money and practicalities, and how to get time to yourself.

Our approach is flexible and adaptable, because we know every carer is unique.  

Max Card

The Max Card is a discount card for families of looked after children and children with special educational needs and disabilities. Families simply show their Max Card upon entry to a venue in order to obtain free or discounted admission. Children and young people will be eligible for the Max Card up to the age of 25yrs.

Carers Leeds is able to offer a Max Card to parent carers living in Leeds (West Yorkshire) and looking after a child with special education needs, health condition or disability.

Disability Living Allowance

Disability Living Allowance for children (sometimes referred to as DLA) is a state benefit paid to carers of a child with a health condition or disability, who is under the age of 16.

The video is intended to help you reflect on the additional support you provide your child and should be viewed before any appointment. For some carers, the video will be sufficient, while others may still need assistance completing or reviewing the form.
