Supporting Young Adult Carers
Our Young Adult Carer project supports carers between 16 and 25 years old living in Leeds caring for a friend or family member with an illness, disability or addiction. We provide one on one support sessions in the carer’s house, in the community or at the Carers Leeds centre giving information and advice and emotional support.
We also run group sessions, activities and trips to enable Young Adult Carers to have a break and meet other young people who are caring. In previous years we’ve visited ITV studios, been to the North Yorkshire Moors for outdoor pursuits and activities, had universities and colleges come and speak at our groups and we took a group to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Pantomime in Leeds city centre.

Carer awareness training for organisations that work with 16 – 18 year olds
With the help of funding from Leeds Community Foundation and Jimbo’s Fund, Carers Leeds are excited to be offering a free one hour training session to schools and organisations working with 16 to 18 year olds from LS9, LS14 and LS15.
The session will raise awareness of young carers and young adult carers and look at the ways that we can work together to identify and support them.
For more information about this training contact Jo Foster, Young Adult Carer Support Worker 07495 263 791 / 0113 380 4300
