Hello and welcome to the Carers Leeds January 2026 update.
Happy New Year! 2026 is really special for us because Carers Leeds turns 30 this year. That’s three decades of supporting unpaid carers across Leeds. We’ll be celebrating with 30 activities throughout the year to raise awareness and support for carers—and we’d love for you to get involved. Whether it’s sharing ideas, joining an event, or helping us fundraise, there’s a way for everyone to take part.
And don’t forget—our annual carers survey is open until the end of January. It’s a simple way to have your say and help us make our services even better.
Aireborough Rotary Club is hosting a family-friendly ceilidh on Friday the 6th of February. It’s a traditional barn dance with live music, food, and dancing for everyone to enjoy.
We also have some practical support to help you this winter, from advice on saving energy at home to tips for staying well and remembering your flu and COVID vaccinations.
If you like learning new things, our online sessions start in February, covering topics like benefits, residential care, the Care Act, and lasting powers of attorney.
Our regular support groups are running, and if you’d like something a little different, we have two other options you might enjoy. If you’d like a friendly chat and a virtual cuppa, join our online carers group on Zoom on the third Friday of the month. It’s a relaxed space to share experiences and connect with other carers. If you prefer to get outdoors, our Walk and Talk sessions are the first Thursday of the month. Bring your comfy shoes and join us for a stroll in Leeds Parks for conversation and fresh air, and a chance to look after your health and wellbeing.
There are also exciting ways to get involved in research and projects this year. You could help shape studies about green spaces, test new home safety tools, or contribute to dementia care training. Every bit of input helps make life better for carers and those you care for.
That’s all for now. Thank you for everything you do as a carer. We hope to see you at an event or online soon. Here’s to a fantastic thirtieth year for Carers Leeds.
