We’re excited to present the Carers Leeds Impact Report 2024/2025, highlighting the achievements of the Carers Leeds staff, volunteers, and partners, whose dedication continues to improve the lives of unpaid carers across Leeds.

This year’s report captures the many ways our team has made a real difference for unpaid carers in our city — from offering expert advice and emotional support to building stronger partnerships and developing new ways to reach carers in every community.

Our Year in Numbers

Between April 2024 and March 2025, Carers Leeds supported 8,834 unpaid carers — including 3,736 people who turned to us for the first time.

  • ☎️ 10,425 calls answered by our Advice Line
  • 💷 £731,636 secured in benefits for carers, plus £179,000 in back payments
  • 🎟️ £128,750 distributed in small grants and vouchers
  • 🧠 1,111 professionals trained to identify and support carers
  • 💜 For every £1 spent, £11.11 in social value was generated

These figures reflect not just what we do — but why we do it. Every piece of advice, every group session and every phone call helps carers to continue to care, and supports their health, financial wellbeing and social connections.

I am so proud of what we have achieved as a team this year, in collaboration with partners across the statutory, voluntary and private sector.

Carers Leeds is firmly focused on reaching more, and more diverse, carers, despite the challenging financial times we are in. We want all carers in Leeds to benefit from our information, advice and support.

These are challenging times for carers too, and we want carers in our city to know that they are recognised, valued and supported.

Claire Turner, Chief Executive of Carers Leeds

Partnership and Collaboration

Our impact is built on collaboration. Throughout the year we worked closely with organisations across the city — including Age UK Leeds, Aspire, Hamara, MESMAC, Touchstone, ABA Leeds, Leeds City Council, and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust — to ensure carers are supported wherever they are.

These partnerships helped us reach more and more diverse carers, strengthen professional understanding of unpaid caring, and make Leeds truly a carer-friendly city.

Innovation and New Beginnings

We’ve also taken big steps forward in how we work.

With new funding from the Accelerating Reform Fund, we’re developing a range of digital services — including webchat, advice videos and an online booking system — making it easier for carers to get support in ways that suit them best.

And after more than two decades on The Headrow, we began an exciting new chapter by moving to Mill 6 in Mabgate — a welcoming, modern space for carers, staff and visitors.

Powered by People

Our impact is only possible because of the incredible people who make up Carers Leeds. Our staff bring expertise and empathy to everything they do, and our volunteers contribute thousands of hours to ensure carers get the help they need.

I feel that we make a difference to those caring for others, often in difficult circumstances.

Volunteer at Carers Leeds

We’re proud of every person who’s played a part this year — whether by answering a call, facilitating a group, running an event, or shaping citywide change.

Looking Ahead

As we look to the year ahead, we’ll continue building on this foundation — expanding our digital reach, strengthening partnerships, and reaching more diverse carers.

Our mission remains simple but powerful: to make sure that all care counts — and that every unpaid carer in Leeds feels recognised, valued and supported.
