Thank you for choosing to support unpaid carers in Leeds. Setting up your own fundraiser is quick and easy using Local Giving — just follow the steps below.
Local Giving – Carers Leeds
Click ‘Fundraise for us‘ to get started.
You’ll need to:
- Sign up with your name, email, and password
- Or log in if you already have a Local Giving account
Click on new fundraiser and search for Carers Leeds.
You can then fill in a few simple details:
- Title – e.g. “Janes 10K Run for Carers Leeds” (note it might not accept apostrophes)
- Fundraising target – choose an amount to aim for
- Activity type – such as running, cycling, birthday, or challenge
This is the most important step!
Make your page stand out by adding:
- Your story – why you’re supporting carers
- A photo of you or your challenge
- Details about what you’re doing and when
Pages with personal stories and photos tend to raise more money.
Stuck on what to write?
Contact fundraising@carersleeds.org.uk and we can help you craft your story.
Your page will run for a set period (usually around 3 months).
You can adjust this to match your event or challenge.
Once your page is live, share it far and wide:
- Send the link to friends and family
- Post on social media (and keep posting updates!)
- Share your progress and milestones
The more you share, the more support you’ll get.
- Track donations through your Local Giving page
- Thank your supporters
- Celebrate hitting your target
Local Giving will also automatically add Gift Aid to eligible donations, increasing your impact at no extra cost.
- Start by asking a few close friends to donate early
- Set a clear, realistic target
- Post updates (training, progress, photos)
- Remind people as your deadline approaches
Thank you
Every pound you raise helps us support unpaid carers across Leeds.
We couldn’t do it without you — thank you.
