Time for us café: Self-care
June 13 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
As a carer it’s often hard to find time to look after yourself. But your needs are important too.
At this café, we will explore what self-care means and some of the barriers and benefits carers experience. There will also be an opportunity to look at different ways to care for yourself so that you can refuel and recharge your batteries.
At the café, carers can also enjoy a light lunch, pick up information on caring, or call into our drop-in service for advice. This event is for carers only.
Booking is essential. To secure your place, call the booking line (0113 246 8338) after 10am on Tuesday 07 May.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
This Carers Week 2019, we’re coming together to help carers get connected. There are 6.5 million people in the UK who are carers. They will be looking after a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness or who needs extra help as they grow older.
This is event is just one of many that we’re organising over the week. For more events click here: https://www.carersleeds.org.uk/tag/CarersWeek2019/
The time for us café is a Carers Leeds monthly event that aims to give all carers a break from caring, a chance to learn something new, and have a nice lunch with new friends.
Each month we run a different activity and in the past have covered a range of topics from massages and manicures to expert advice on avoid scams and fraud. Carers find our events give them chance to relax and enjoy a new experience. Come to one or come to them all – the choice is yours.
