Pete Allison, radio presenter from Capital FM Yorkshire raises over £10,000 for young adult carers running stadium to stadium across Yorkshire.

On Monday 23rd May, Pete Allison, radio presenter from Capital FM Yorkshire started his ‘Pitch to Pitch’ fund raising challenge for the Global Make Some Noise charity. Global Make Some Noise help to raise the profile of projects such as the Young Adult Carers Project at Carers Leeds that support young people within England. Pete completed a whopping 65 miles between 7 stadiums and within 5 days. The equivalent to five half marathons.

If you didn’t following Pete’s progress online then here is what you missed!

Day One: Hull’s KCOM Stadium >> Rotherham’s New York Stadium:

Starting at Hull’s KCOM Stadium, Pete was ready and raring to go. 13 miles later and running across the Yorkshire and Humber Bridge Pete arrived at Rotherham’s New York Stadium. Not forgetting that Pete did his radio show live from the stadium’s press box and had a body massage!

Day Two:  Rotherham’s New York Stadium >> Bramall Lane Stadium >> Hillsborough Stadium

Keith Senior (former Leeds Rhinos Player) joined Pete along the way finishing the day at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. Pete also received a good luck message from Shawn Mendes!

Day Three: Sheffield Wednesday FC Stadium >> Huddersfield John Smith Stadium

Half way through the week, Pete had ran 26 miles between 4 stadiums. Myself, other young adult carers and Carers Leeds were sending Pete motivational tweets through socialmedia.

Day Four: Huddersfield John Smith Stadium >> Bradford Valley Parade Stadium

Could you imagine getting a challenge from Liam Payne?! Liam challenged Pete to sing his hit song ‘Strip That Down’ whilst running through Huddersfield. It was all uphill through Bradford in the pouring rain!

Day Five:  Leeds United Football Stadium Elland Road >> 0 miles to go

The last stretch! Just thirteen more miles! Pete’s friends and family, Capital FM colleagues, Carers Leeds and young adult carers were all waiting eagerly inside Elland Road for Pete to cross the finish line on the Pitch. Six miles away from Elland Road Pete was tired and in pain (nothing a support bandage couldn’t fix) but he soldiered on. As Pete approached the finish line we were all cheering and ready to go live on Capital FM!!

Seven stadiums later, 65 miles down Pete had raised over £10, 000!! As a young adult carer who uses the Young Adult Carers Project at Carers Leeds and on behalf of other group members we cannot thank Pete enough. This funding will enable Carers Leeds to continue to provide us with vital support.  From leisure and day trips to individual, group and emotional support the staff go above and beyond to support us.
