This free group is open to people who care for someone with a drug or alcohol addiction. The Support Group offers the opportunity to meet with other people who are having similar experiences and reduce some of the isolation that can be part of supporting a person in addiction.  The groups offer you time to share your experiences, seek guidance and information, and discuss what changes you can make to reduce the impact of another person’s addiction.

Carers Leeds understands some people feel anxious about accessing support groups. We are happy to meet you before the group so that you don’t have to walk in to a room full of strangers if this will help to put you at ease. Please remember that you don’t have to speak in groups, you can come and listen until you feel ready to speak about your own experiences. Usually the people that are the most reluctant to come to the support groups are the people that get the most from it.

Please contact us on 0113 380 8915 for more information on how to attend this group.

This group is one of many specialist carer groups within the city. Group support is a good way to share experiences and get emotional support from other people in the same or similar situation.

The groups are welcoming and friendly, give carers a break from caring and gives you the opportunity to get advice, information and support tailored towards your caring role.

Some groups enjoy activities, well-being sessions and have speakers who may be of particular interest to the group.

If you need any further information please contact Carers Leeds advice line on 0113 380 4300.
