Carers Week is just around the corner (12 – 18 June) and staff have been busy organising events and writing an exciting programme for the week.  Anyone who receives Carers News will have seen the programme in our latest mailing – it is also on this website in the publications section.

We’ll be active all across the city with information stalls in libraries, supermarkets and One Stop Centres.  Our Big Event on Saturday 17th June is an all-day information stall on Briggate.  Please visit us to say Hello and to help judge our staff cake bake-off – the Carers Leeds  contribution to the Great Get Together, inspired by Jo Cox MP.

Carers and the person they care for are invited to join us  for a day out in Scarborough – let’s hope the sun will shine! And there are other activities for carers during the week – opportunities to mix with other carers for mutual support, socialising and celebration.  We know it’s not always easy being a carer and it’s important to celebrate what we do and the contribution we make to society.

AND …. We’re launching the ‘Leeds Commitment to Carers’.  This is  a whole new approach to supporting carers in the city and focusses on  bringing  people together.  Those with  responsibility for planning and paying for services for carers,  with organisations with a role in supporting carers.  Leeds has a commitment to being a ‘Best City’ and being a best city for carers is an important part of this.  Watch This Space!
